Green's Guns and Range    Marshall, Tx.

We are adding a covered rifle shooting pavillion and expanding the covered handgun shooting pavillion as well. Construction is scheduled to be complete 3/6. Come by and check it out. Now our rifle shooters can get in out of the sun, wind, rain, and snow. Plus we added sound-dampening materials to the inside of the rifle range to make it a little quieter.

All work is being done by Michael Williamson with Walnut Hill Excavation and Construction, and we highly recommend Mike and his crew.

Winners from the Raffle to raise money for Jessica Danielle Havard's college fund.

We sold 256 raffle tickets for this drawing, and so raised $2,560 dollars, all of which will go toward tuition and books at LeTourneau University. Thank you very much. For those of you who did not win, take pride in the fact that you donated your money to a very worth cause.

Today we drew names for 3 prizes.

• First prize was the Smith & Wesson M&P 15 AR15 with Bushnell Holosight attached ($1,700 retail value). The winner was Richard Larsen.
• Second and Third prizes were gift certificates worth $100 each that can be applied toward Range Memberships, CHL classes, or other training. The names drawn for those prizes were Mara Breazeale and George Verhalen.

Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the East Texas Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited, Green’s Guns & Range will be expanding their shooting range as well as adding several new programs aimed at increasing participation in youth shooting sports in Harrison County.

The grant will be used to help cover the costs of adding 2 new backstops, 2 covered and lighted shooting pavilions, and a modified trap range. These new additions will enable Green’s to begin hosting several youth-based shooting programs, including:

• Venturing: This co-ed arm of the Boy Scouts of America is for young men and women between 14 and 20 years of age. Venturing focuses on developing leadership through group activities, high adventure and sports, recognition, and teaching others. Part of Venture Crew 240’s focus will be on shooting sports, including rifle, shotgun, pistol, air rifles, and archery. • Character Club Youth Shooting Camps: These summer camps are designed to help youth develop into young leaders by building a strong and Godly character of humility, courage, respect, honesty, and integrity while simultaneously developing their shooting and hunting skills as well as outdoor awareness, navigation, survival, self-rescue, wildlife identification and tracking, etc… Beginning Summer 2009. • 4H Shooting Clubs:  The Harrison County 4H Shooting Sports program currently focuses on three disciplines; rim fire rifle, air rifle, and shotgun.
