Fun Shoot

4th Annual Jason Wayne Bolt Benefit Fun Shoot

Green’s Guns & Range and the Jason Wayne Bolt Memorial Scholarship Committee have teamed up once again to bring you the 4th Annual Benefit Fun Shoot, May 14, 2011.

10:30 – 12:30 Turkey Shoot

We will shoot 1 round every 15 minutes beginning at 10:30. The last 2 rounds will be “Kids Only” with the grand prize being a Rossi Matched Pair Shotgun/Rifle Combo and every participant receiving some sort of prize.
Targets will be placed approximately 75’ feet from the firing line.
Shooters may use any stock shotgun with stock chokes with maximum barrel length of 32”. Full, Xtra Full, and Extended Turkey Chokes are acceptable. However, the smallest diameter of the bore must be no less than .685 for 12 gauge.
Green’s Guns & Range will provide all shells. Additionally, Green’s will provide several guns that may be used for the event. All guns supplied by Green’s will be equipped with full or Xtra-full chokes.
A minimum of 10 slots must be filled for each round, with a maximum of 24. In case there are not enough shooters to fill all 10 slots, shooters will be given the option of paying for and taking additional slots.
The first 2 rounds will be “Pick of the Litter” rounds, and the winner will be able to choose from among the prizes. These rounds will cost $10 per slot.
The prizes for the remaining 4 rounds will be randomly drawn from a hat. These rounds will cost $5 per slot.
The judge will determine the winner of each round, and if there is any doubt, a re-shoot will be used to decide ties.

12:30 – 3:30 Main Event

Shooters will participate in several rounds in which they will engage a variety of different targets.Regardless of the skill of the shooter, just about anyone can win this category.
Cost is $25

4:00 – 5:00 Challenge Round

The challenge round will simulate an armed attack in a parking lot.
Shooters will be required to engage multiple targets from a variety of positions.
Hostage targets and no-shoot targets will also be used.
This course will require quite a bit of movement between shooting stations and at least 1 reload during the exercise.
Calibers must be 380 ACP or larger.
Each shooter will have an opportunity to run through the course slowly at first.
Then run through it at speed.
Shooters will be scored on accuracy as well as speed.
More detailed rules will be provided on the day of the event.
The cost for participating in the bonus round is $20.

5:00 – 6:00 Dinner and Awards Ceremony

All participants will have a complimentary dinner provided by Catfish Express
All Non-Participants MUST pay 7.50 for Dinner

First Annual Jason Bolt Fun Shoot Held
April 12, 2008
The 1^st Annual Jason Wayne Bolt Memorial Scholarship Fund Fun Shoot was held Saturday, April 5, at Green’s Guns and Range in Marshall. Several dozen spectators came to watch 16 shooters compete in 7 stages for the chance at several prizes, including two firearms.
Nearly $1,800 was raised for the foundation, which was established earlier this year in memory of Jason Bolt, an influential 19 year-old from Marshall who was killed in a car accident in November 2007. The purpose of the foundation is to provide scholarships to those who choose to attend trade schools instead of college.
Because it was a fun shoot, the stages were designed to award almost as many points for luck as they did for shooting skill. In the end Stephen Davis came in 1^st place for the overall competition, winning a new Taurus Model 63 .22LR semiautomatic rifle. Willard Birdwell won the final stage, which was a bonus stage, and was awarded an H&R P12 pump shotgun.
The two guns were donated by Green’s Guns and Range. Tim Young also donated a new 12 gauge pump shotgun that will be raffled off at a later function to add to the scholarship fund. The BBQ was donated by Bodacious in Marshall, and several volunteers donated many hours of preparation. Thanks to all for their participation in doing a really good thing. We hope that you will tell them thanks the next time you see them.
